To discover the history and inspiration behind the Theophilos brand is to embark on a captivating journey that combines Greek culinary traditions, environmental awareness and the passion of George Korres.
The brainchild of George, a visionary known for founding KORRES natural cosmetics and Naxos Pharmacy, Theophilos exemplifies his passion for natural ingredients, local traditions and sustainable practices. Deeply rooted in the fragrant olive groves and azure waters of Greece, George's ethos translates his soulful connection to nature into a culinary narrative that honours Greek gastronomy. George's passion for Greek culture and traditions, coupled with his commitment to sustainability, is at the core of Theophilos. His vision is to create an arc that connects the local environment, local flora, local products and local customs with the global traveller.
The People
Meet our producers
We have met and would like to introduce you to the people who are at the heart of the creation, the preservation and the development of Greek gastronomy.
The starting point was the painter Theofilos, whose "bread can fly off his painting and land in the mouths of good people". From there, we went on to meet the producers who bring products to life with the responsibility and passion that only parents have when raising children. We met the chefs and local cooks of the tavernas-“sanctuaries” of our lives - the homemakers who anonymously feed families without expecting anything in return, the fishermen, the bakers, the farmers' market vendors and all those who work in the "sacred everyday".

The Stories
We have listened, read and written down everything that puts into words what food means to the daily life, history and soul of the Greeks.
Proverbs, sayings, local customs and traditions, daily rituals and "peculiar" habits, recipes that have become classics, as well as recipes that are recited by grandmothers and fathers without using measurements of ingredients - excerpts from literature and songs, treasures of folk tradition, testimonies, oral accounts, and everything that can fit into the Arc-Custodian of the Words that describe Greek culinary life.
The Tools
We have catalogued definitions, drawn maps, contacted experts in order to develop some basic, practical navigational tools for guidance in the immense, magical Greek gastronomic universe
We are making an effort to create glossaries from A to Z, to place on maps the products, producers and recipes that compose the numerous independent gastronomic worlds to be found on Greek territory, to plan seminars and record as many sources as possible for further research. Overall, we are eager to discover anything and everything that can provide the theoretical background for a better understanding of the living experience.
